We love to partner with talented, local designers who enable our clients to turn their interior visions into tangible spaces that exceed all expectations.
Deborah Couchman from Rosenruby is a fond choice for our clients, with her commitment to understanding your aspirations and implementing them with timeframes and budget in mind. We sat down with Deborah to discuss her predictions for design in 2024 and learn more about her expertise as a colour consultant.
Deborah! Hello. Tell us a bit about yourself and your journey in interiors.
After many years in travel / hotel corporate roles and adventures around the globe, I decided to embrace my love of colour and take my passion for interior design to the next level. After obtaining my Diploma in Interior Design and Certificates in Home Staging, Property Styling and Commercial Design I officially launched Rosenruby Interior Design in 2019 and since then have been supporting Waikato Builders with colour consulting services for their new builds alongside my private client works.
That’s fantastic. Could you talk us through your predictions for the year?
Clients are expressing their desire to support brands that care about the future and their employees and have adapted their products or production processes to become more sustainable and environmentally friendly. By default, their purchases also reflect this mindset, and they are more likely to invest in customised furniture that may be passed onto the next generation rather than selecting from a high street brand that has a shorter lifespan.
Eclectic styling, which is one of my favourites and is a core value of Rosenruby (Creating interiors with soul where loves of yesterday effortlessly merge with treasures of tomorrow). Mixing vintage and contemporary creates unique spaces, where the home becomes a real reflection of those who live there.
We are still seeing lots of nature inspired elements and raw materials through house selections and furniture choices – Beautiful Natural Timbers, Stone, and Marble. (Nixon are currently working with a client who is going to be showcasing Macrocarpa throughout her home which I can’t wait to see).
Clients are loving the tactile nature of wall panels, woven wallpapers, and textured venetian plaster. We are also seeing the strength of the curve continue with the release of many new furniture, homeware & lighting lines.
